I don’t know why …

Ok, ok, i know all that cliche’ stuff like the youth should feel more strongly about the politics and all that things like ‘Raise your finger’ by John Abs and ‘Jaago re’ … i have nothing against them, in fact my rationale supports them … after all, you can’t run a country with such a proportion of young people in its population efficiently with selfish old haggards … we do need ourselves at the helm … but still, i don’t know why, i won’t vote this time. In fact i’ve not got any voter id at all … why i have my passport and PAN card so i don’t really need a voter id as an id proof … once got a form for that, but didn’t fill it up. Don’t know whether i’ll vote some day or not … my parents also never did it …

Funny situation … not that i worry about it too much or am having any ideological conflicts inside my mind. I just don’t care about it now.

The Vitriol

It was the last drama in the drama festival organized by the insti, and it was staged by our boys’ hostel, the BHOS. Well, the representation was great, complete with dev-d songs ! and the subject … i don’t know what they actually tried to say. On the surface it was the cliche’d ‘you can seemingly not give a damn about the system but actually you’re meekly surrendering to it all the time’-type thing, but there are lots of situations and metaphors that need explaining.I

It’s on a hotshot, a little corrupt corporate guy, named P ( for protagonist, of the drama ), who has a flirtatious secy (who also acts as a pizza deliv. girl, a maid servant, and a poor woman), a jealous colleague Q ( who’s also seen as an intelligence head), a pair of peons, his father … all make appearences as other characters in the drama. P is held guilty by the system, though no one knows of what, and in course of time he finds himself lost amid the numerous hostilities that plie up against him and succumbs.Of course everything happens metaphorically. There was a vivid protrayal where his boss is showed as a judge who sits with cotton in his ears and a sunglass in eyes, with a balance in hand … he chooses to not see/ hear anything, … portraying the ‘andha kanoon’.

It’s really a job well done, … hats off. But i guess for some people things were a bit too much !! And the main thing is the significance of the name … everyone’s got different interpretations …

cheerio :P

Well,  well, I drank for the first time last night. It was the insti convo and there was an elaborate ‘maal-party’ on the hostel roof this night as a treat by the last yr passed-out batch, … and had some 3-4 shots, of different kinds  …. Ok, it ain’t that bad for the first time that your parents tell you, … a bit medicine-like in taste ( I opened with vodka). I liked Smirnoff the most, followed by Rum. Beer is, well, as some say, is like horse-pee, … I’d never ever have beer in future.

I don’t know, maybe, once-a-month won’t do you any world of harm J … it’s ok, as long as you can hold your own against the dizziness and the immediate aftereffects.

Samit Roy

It happened thus. … People ( means us students, of course !) here are nowadays really excited about a certain facebook game called mafia wars and for that everyone’s sending wholesale lots of friend requests to arbit people who are mafia wars players as well to get them in their own mafia. Thus i got freinds with this guy Junior Roi. Actually i added him after seeing his pic (and the similarity with our batchmate samit) in Haloom’s prof. Samit’s still reluctant to appreciate the similarity, but when i showed it to Roi when he was online he was pretty excited about it :)

… Strange, such an amount of similarity, between two unthinkably distant ethnic people … one an aboriginal New-Zealander, another a bengali who was brought up in Chennai !!

P.S. saw two diametrically opposite films on alternate days. The first one was the much touted CC2C ( arre, Chandni chowk to china re baba !). Most of the times i felt like screaming mad coz i was having to tolerate the unthiknably stupid stuff, thrown in one after another, in search of the elusive bits of Kung-fu ! And the second one, ‘The Prestige’… oh my … what a film ! this Chris Nolan guy’s a genius, man. That twist in the last was unthinkable. To me it felt really grisly to think of what Hugh Jackman’s Angiers did with Tesla’s machine. Really, film ho to aisa.
