Surrounded by blooming mathematicians has its own advantage and disadvantage. The advantage is obvios, and the disadvantage is you tend to forget about your other faculties and be obsessed by the freaky epsilons and deltas. And the first yr is the toughest as in 2nd yr optional bio can be taken.

Anyway, amid all this, a trip to the human genetics unit of our institute (thanx to sau daa, our stat teacher) came as a welcome relief. We were supposed to be given just brief overviews but on my whimpering, they obliged. The research scholars, who take their stat lessons with us (!) and fumble very often, were in their elements when they got the chance. We were shown gel electrophoresis, DNA sequencer (which they told is a finer sort of gel-runner ) and shown radiograms of gel-plates.

The micropipettes and etc. instruments in the accesory trays in the lab suddenly reminded of my one and only elaborate lab experience, in the good old days of june (see ‘Mumbai, the OCSC experience !’)
